Green Hills Community sits on a beautiful green 30-acre campus in a relaxed natural wooded setting minutes from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Landscape features include a pond, natural prairie full of wildflowers, paved walking trails, a garden, and a therapeutic fountain.
The idea for Green Hills came in 1976 during an ISU Alumni Association brainstorming session about ways to serve ISU alumni. When the feasibility of a retirement community seemed impossible, the Foundation sold the land to three developers and the idea for a retirement community was reborn.
